How do I buy tickets?

2021 Regular Season tickets and SEASON PASSES are now on sale HERE.  You may also purchase them on site at our box office on the night of the event, though tickets may be limited, so we advise purchasing them online in advance. Purchasing your tickets online in advance is the only way to ensure that you will be able to attend.



Does my ticket get me into both attractions, or do I need to buy a separate ticket for each haunt?

NEW FOR 2021 ~  You must choose from four options when purchasing tickets online or onsite:

    • Will garner you entry into the Haunted Schoolhouse AND the Haunted Laboratory on any Friday or Saturday (except 11/6.)
    • Will garner you entry into the Haunted Schoolhouse AND the Haunted Laboratory on any Sunday.
  • HAUNTED SCHOOLHOUSE ONLY (Valid any day except 11/6)
  • HAUNTED LABORATORY ONLY (Valid any day except 11/6


What is different that I need to know for 2021?

The main differences from years past that we want everyone to be aware of are:

  • Ticketing – When purchasing tickets, all guests must choose the option that they want.  General Admission Combo (Haunted Schoolhouse AND Haunted Laboratory included,) Haunted Schoolhouse only, or Haunted Laboratory only. See above questions for details.
  • Online Digital Tickets – All tickets purchased online will be delivered digitally via email.  So, you must have a means of accessing your tickets once you have purchased them.  We will scan all tickets, either on your phones, or on tickets printed from your email. Your tickets will need to be scanned before entering the Schoolhouse and before entering the Lab.
  • Onsite Tickets – All patrons purchasing tickets onsite will receive physical tickets from the box office. You MUST hold on to your ticket(s) as you will NOT be issued a new ticket for free if you misplace them.


What happens if I have purchased tickets, but can not visit both buildings in one night?

Great news!  The tickets you purchase are valid for the entire season (except Saturday 11/6.)  So, if something comes up and you can’t visit one of the buildings that you’ve purchased tickets for on any given night, come back later in the season.  Those unscanned tickets will still be usable for any other of the same nights* (except Saturday 11/6.)

*Unused purchased Friday/Saturday tickets can be used on ANY day (except 11/6.)  Unused purchased SUNDAY tickets can only be used on any Sunday during the season.  OR, you can exchange for a Friday/Saturday ticket at the box office by paying the $3 difference per ticket.


What will the show be like?

For the 2021 season, BOTH the Haunted Schoolhouse and Haunted Laboratory will be open each night (the Schoolhouse only for Glowstick/Blackout on 11/6.) You will notice A LOT of changes in the haunts for this season, especially the Laboratory.

The new midway and bar will be open at 6:30pm.


What is Fast Pass Admission?

A Fast Pass admission allows you to bypass all general admission lines.


What is Immediate Access Admission?

Immediate Access admission allows you to bypass all lines at head directly to the very front of the line. Only available at the box office, and very limited quantities are available.


If I buy tickets online do I have to use them the same day?

You do not (unless you purchase tickets for Glowstick/Blackout on 11/6.)  However, if you purchase COMBO Tickets for Friday/Saturday, you must use them on a Friday or Saturday (NOT 11/6.)  Similarly, if you purchase COMBO Tickets for Sunday, you must use them on a Sunday.


Do I need to print my tickets?

If you have a smartphone, we are able to scan the tickets from your phone.  Printed tickets are also accepted.


How do I get a refund?

Just like sporting events & others, we do not offer refunds unless you have purchased the ticket insurance while buying your tickets online.  If you have purchased the ticket insurance and would like a refund, please send us an email at with the following information:  1) The name on the tickets  2) The order number  3) The email used to purchase the tickets.

Once we have that information, we will refund you the cost of your tickets minus the ticket insurance.  (NOTE:  The system does not allow us to process refunds until 24 hours after a purchase has been made.) Also, please give us 1-3 days to get to your refund request.


What are you doing for people who bought Season Passes that could not be fully used in 2020?

All 2020 Season Passes are automatically extended through the end of 2021.


I just bought my tickets online, do I still have to wait in the box office line when I get to the Haunted Schoolhouse or do I go directly into the attraction?

If you have online tickets, printed or on your smartphone, you may bypass the ticket booth line and go directly to the line at the attraction entrance.

However, if you wish to upgrade to Fast Pass or have any other questions or changes, you must first either report to the ticket booth, or click the Upgrade button on our ticketing site.


Are the escape rooms or axe throwing included with the haunted house?

The escape rooms and axe throwing are an additional charge separate from the haunted house and must be reserved in advance. Can I have a private party or corporate event at the Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory?

Yes and no. We have an event center for parties or corporate events that can be booked by calling us at (330) 285-7000 or emailing However, it must be booked in conjunction with axe throwing and/or escape rooms. For more information, click HERE.


What forms of payment do you accept at the box office?

We accept cash, credit, and debit. However, all credit/debit transactions at the box office also have a $1 service fee included in the ticket price.  We also have an ATM on site for your convenience.


Do you take credit and debit cards at the box office?

Yes. We take Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. However, if you use a credit or debit card, there is a $1 fee included in the ticket price.


Do you take Apple Pay & Samsung Pay?

Yes. We take both Apple Pay & Samsung Pay at the box office, bar, and merchandise booth.


Once we’ve used our ticket can we go through again with the same ticket?

No, your ticket is for one entry only.  However, if you are a season pass holder, you may enter as many times as you wish, though you must visit the box office (window #3) each time in order to obtain a new ticket (we are currently working on a way to eliminate this need.)


What about season pass holders? Do we have to choose a ticket type?

Season pass holders and their guests do not have to choose a ticket type.  Just show up and head to the box office (window #3) to obtain your entry ticket and purchase your buddy passes for the night.  You and your guests will be able to visit the Schoolhouse AND Lab (except on 11/6 – Schoolhouse only) on whichever night you attend.


If I buy my ticket right before the ticket booth closes, will I still be able to get into the show?

Yes. Every ticketed guest will make it through all of the attractions open on that particular night. However, our box office may close early, so you may not be able to purchase a ticket if you arrive close to the listed closing time.


What time does the box office close?

The box office may close early due to unforeseen circumstances, so you may not be able to purchase a ticket if you arrive close to the listed closing time.



Are coupons available?

There are no coupons currently for the 2021 season.  However, you may get exclusive deals and promo codes by joining our text club or our email list. Also, keep checking our Facebook page for possible promo codes.


Do you offer Student discounts?

Do you offer child discounts?

No. All ticket prices are the same.


Do you offer Military discounts?

Yes.  A $5.00 discount is available to all First Responders (Police, Fire, EMT – must be active) & Military (active or veteran) with a valid badge, military ID or DD214.  Discounts are only available on site at the box office.


How old do you have to be to work at the Haunted Schoolhouse & Laboratory?

We prefer that employees be 18 or over to work with us, however, 16/17-year-olds may still apply, as we can and do make exceptions in some cases.

Is it Scary?

Yes! It is very scary!

However, different people are scared of/by different things.  Some are very hard to scare, some are easy to scare. Even if we somehow aren’t able to scare you, we’ll still work hard to make your experience as entertaining as possible.


Do you offer refunds?

No. Just like sporting events and other similar events, there are absolutely no refunds.

Is it open if it rains?

Yes. We’re open rain or shine.


If I enter the haunted house and get too scared, what do I do?

If you get too scared, stay calm and tell the actor in the room and they will escort you outside or get the show manager to do so. Please note, like sporting events and large attractions, we do not give refunds under any circumstances. However, if you purchased the ticket insurance add-on for $1.95-$2.95 when buying your tickets online, and you can’t use your tickets, we will refund your tickets no questions asked (minus the ticket insurance fee.)


Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit. However, due to the intensity of our show, it is not recommended for children under the age of 12.


Are face masks required?

We do not require patrons to wear face masks, however we do recommend that customers do wear them.  This will change if the county or state mandates that face masks be worn.


Do I have to sign a waiver?

You are not required to sign a waiver to experience our attraction(s) for any event.


What is the Blackout/Glowstick night?

2021 Blackout/Glowstick Night is on Saturday, November 6 from 8-11pm.  This special event is a complete blackout of the attraction where you have to find your way through with the aid of only a glow stick.  No show lighting is turned on and there is limited staff.  You will be touched (but not harmed).  Safety equipment available at the door. NO waiver is required for this show, and there is NO AGE LIMIT.  As a result, it won’t be quite as extreme as our past blackout events, but will still be a lot of fun! ONLY the Schoolhouse be open for this event.


How many people go through at a time?

We encourage smaller groups because it makes it a better experience for our guests and our actors.  A group size of six or less at a time is what we recommend. On busier nights, in order to help shorten the wait, we are forced to shorten the time between groups.  If you feel yourselves getting too close to the group in front of you and want your scares preserved, we recommend slowing down.  We have to find the happy medium between preserving everyone’s scares and reducing the line wait times, but different groups walk at different speeds and sometimes conga lines happen, though we do our best to avoid this.


Can I stay with my group?

Just as previously stated, your experience will be better with a smaller group.  So, if you came with a large group, you may be divided to improve your experience. You will, however, remain with your smaller group throughout the attractions.


What should I wear?

The Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory do not have heating or air conditioning so please dress for the current weather conditions.  Sandals, heels, or any other open-toed shoes are strongly discouraged due to the uneven surfaces and tripping hazards throughout the attractions. You may come in contact with dirt and theatrical blood, so please wear clothes that can get dirty.


Can I wear a costume?

You are free to dress for the Halloween season as you please. We just ask that you do not wear any full silicone masks, face paint, or bring any props with you.


Can pregnant women go through?

Guests enter at their own discretion. HSHL is not responsible for injury. We suggest calling your OB/GYN and/or physician to discuss the situation with them


Is it handicap accessible?

Unfortunately, not really.  The midway, restrooms, and 1st floor areas are accessible, but these are very old buildings with 4 and 3 floors of stairways with no ramps or elevators up to the haunt floors.


Can the actors touch you?

Absolutely NO ONE at HSHL will touch you.


Do I have to pay to park?

No, all parking is FREE.


What time does the line start forming?

Lines start forming between 30 and 60 minutes prior to the box office opening. On our busy nights it is best to show up early to avoid long lines. The box office will open and we will begin selling tickets at the listed opening of the attractions.  Our new midway near the attraction entrance will open at 6:30pm each night, where you will be able to get food, drinks, and alcohol.


How long is the wait to get in?

Saturdays are our busiest nights. You may experience wait times from 1 to 3+ hours. If you are in a hurry, Fast Passes are available to get to the front of the lines for an extra $8-12. Immediate Access passes are also available onsite for $50.

Please keep in mind that we must find the happy medium between making wait times shorter and keeping everyone happy by spacing out groups.


Is there indoor waiting?

Yes and no.  The lines on busier nights during busier times may stretch outside, but once inside the building, you will not have to go back outside until you’ve completed each haunted house.  You WILL be outside as you go from the Schoolhouse to the Laboratory.  However, the line to buy tickets is NOT indoors, so we recommend purchasing tickets online in advance so you can eliminate one line from your experience.


How long does it take to get through the Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory?

You will be getting scared for approximately an 45-60 minutes if you purchase tickets for both shows. This does not count the wait times. The time it takes to get through depends on how fast you walk… or run!


What time does it close?

HSHL does not close until all ticketed guests are through the attraction.  But, the box office may close early due to unforeseen circumstances, so you may not be able to purchase a ticket if you arrive close to the listed closing time.


Can I take pictures?

There are multiple free photo-ops. You are welcome to take pictures while in line or in the midway, but once inside the haunted houses themselves, you may not take any pictures or videos of our actors, scenes, or props.  If you are seen taking photos or videos of any kind, our show managers will ask you to cease doing so.


Is there smoke or fog in the shows?

Yes. We use theatrical fog to create many effects in our shows.


Are there strobe lights?

Yes.  If you have problems with epilepsy, please talk to your doctor beforehand or refrain from entering the show.


Is there anything else to possibly trigger someone?

There is one scene of an apparent suicide by firearm in the Laboratory. It is meant to follow with the story of the Lab, not to upset anyone.  However, we acknowledge that some patrons may be triggered by a scene of that nature.  If that kind of a scene will make you uncomfortable, we recommend you avoid the Laboratory.


Is there security?

Officers from the Akron City Police Department are on site during all operating hours to ensure the safety of all inside the building, as well as a licensed nurse and an assistant fire chief for any possible injuries/illnesses to staff or patrons.


Can we be thrown out for any reason?

Yes. Any dangerous or offensive behavior is grounds to be thrown out. Whether or not you will be thrown out is at the discretion of the HSHL staff. Such behavior includes assault (verbal or physical) of our staff or other patrons, or vandalism of any of our sets/props, as well as anything else deemed to be worthy of expulsion.


Do you serve alcoholic beverages?

YES!  We feature a full bar in our Monster Midway, selling beer, liquor, & shots.  Please drink responsibly. We reserve the right to remove any patrons we deem to be too intoxicated for the safety of our staff and customers, including the intoxicated parties themselves.

Staff will be patrolling the queue lines to ensure that all consumption of alcohol is done by guests wearing the Over 21 wristbands that we will provide once ID’s are checked. Please drink responsibly.


Do you have concessions on site?

Yes! Our Monster Midway features one or more food trucks every night.


Do you sell T-Shirts and souvenirs?

We have a variety of T-shirts and other apparel, as well as smaller souvenirs, for sale in our merchandise booth in the Monster Midway. Some items have limited quantities and sizes.  Available while supplies last.  Look for great new merchandise in 2021!


Is smoking allowed?

In accordance with state law, smoking is prohibited inside the building. You will NOT be permitted to exit for smoke breaks before you exit each attraction.  There is a designated smoking section on our Monster Midway.


What can’t we bring inside the show with us?

You cannot bring any weapons of any sort into the attraction with you, real or fake. You may not wear any full silicone mask or extreme face paint or bring props of any kind.  Also, no outside (meaning any which has not been purchased at our attraction) food, drink, or alcohol may be brought onto our property.  In addition, we do not allow strollers to be brought into the building.


Are the attractions the same each year?

No. We work hard to update and make changes every year. We promise we will never be exactly the same two years in a row.  Especially this season, you won’t believe the amount of changes in the Lab!
