How much does it cost?

How do I buy tickets?

2019 SEASON PASSES, SINGLE DAY, and GROUP TICKETS are now available for purchase HERE.  You may also purchase them on site at our box office on nights that we are open.

 

Does my ticket get me into both attractions, or do I need to buy a separate ticket for each haunt?

One general admission ticket will garner you entry into both the Haunted Schoolhouse AND the Haunted Laboratory.  If you purchase a “Single Haunt” ticket, you will need to choose at the box office which haunt you wish to go through.

 

What is Fast Pass Admission?

A Fast Pass admission allows you to bypass ALL general admission regular lines! This is especially useful on Saturday nights.

 

If I buy tickets online do I have to use them the same day?

No, you do not.  General Admission tickets are valid on any day during the 2019 season.

However, if you purchase tickets for special events (Glowstick/Valentine’s Day, etc), they must only be used on the night(s) of the special event.

 

Do I need to print my tickets?

If you have a smartphone, we are able to scan the tickets from your phone.

 

I just bought my tickets online, do I still have to wait in the box office line when I get to the Haunted Schoolhouse & Laboratory or do I go directly into the attraction?

If you have online tickets, printed or on your smartphone, you must first report to the “Online Sales” window at the ticket booth in order to pick up your physical tickets.

 

Are the escape rooms or axe throwing included with the haunted house?

The escape rooms and axe throwing are an additional charge separate from the haunted house and must be reserved in advance. To book a room with Escape Akron, visit escapeakron.com. To book an axe throwing lane, visit allamericanaxethrowing.com.

 

Can I make a reservation?

Yes, you may purchase SINGLE DAY, GROUP, and SEASON PASSES online NOW.  You can also make group reservations or reserve room for a private party or event by calling us at (330) 285-7000 or emailing us at akronhaunts@gmail.com

 

Can I have a private party or corporate event at the Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory?

Yes and no. We have an event center for parties or corporate events that can be booked by calling us at (330) 285-7000 or emailing akronhaunts@gmail.com. However, it must be booked in conjunction with axe throwing and/or escape rooms. For more information, click HERE.

 

What forms of payment do you accept at the box office?

We accept cash, credit, and debit. However, all credit/debit transactions at the box office also have a $1 service fee included in the ticket price.  We also have an ATM on site for your convenience.

 

Do you take credit and debit cards at the box office?

Yes. We take Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. However, if you use a credit or debit card, there is a $1 fee included in the ticket price.

 

Once we’ve used our ticket can we go through again with the same ticket?

No, your ticket is for one entry only.  However, if you are a season pass holder, you may enter as many times as you wish, though you must visit the box office each time in order to obtain a new ticket.  Also available is an All-Night Die-Hard ticket for $60 that will allow you to go through as many times as you’d like (includes Fast Pass admission) in one night.

 

If I buy my ticket right before the ticket booth closes, will I still be able to get into the show?

Yes. Every ticketed guest will make it through all of the attractions.

 

What time does the box office close?

Our box office will close exactly at the listed closing time.  As long as you are IN LINE at the time the box office closes, you will still be allowed to purchase a ticket and enter the attraction(s.)

 

DISCOUNTS & COUPONS

Are coupons available?

There are no coupons available for the 2019 season.  However, you may get exclusive deals and promo codes by joining our text club or our email list.

 

Do you offer Student discounts?

For the 2019 season, with a valid high school or college ID, we will be offering special discounted general admission tickets for students on certain days only (see below for dates.)  Students MUST present a VALID student I.D. to receive the discount. If student attends a school that does not issue student I.D.’s, unfortunately they CAN NOT receive the discount. We must be able to validate that the student actually attends high school or college, age is not a valid confirmation

2019 STUDENT I.D. NIGHTS ~ October 4, 5, 6, October 31, and November 2.

 

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes. Group discounts are offered to groups of 10 or more, see our Ticket Price/Calendar page for more information. To arrange your group, book it online.

 

Do you offer child discounts?

No. All ticket prices are the same.

 

Do you offer Military discounts?

Yes.  A $5.00 discount is available to all First Responders (Police, Fire, EMT – must be active) & Military (active or veteran) with a valid badge, military ID or DD214.

 

How can we win free tickets?

EMPLOYMENT

How old do you have to be to work at the Haunted Schoolhouse & Laboratory?

We prefer that employees be 18 or over to work with us, however, 16/17-year-olds may still apply, as we can and do make exceptions in some cases.

GENERAL

Is it Scary?

Yes! It is very scary!

However, different people are scared of/by different things.  Some are very hard to scare, some are easy to scare. Even if we somehow aren’t able to scare you, we’ll still work hard to make your experience as entertaining as possible.

 

Do you offer refunds?

No. Just like sporting events and other similar events, there are absolutely no refunds.

However, if you purchase the ticket insurance add-on when buying your tickets online, and you can’t use your tickets, only then will we refund your tickets.

 

Is it open if it rains?

Yes. We’re open rain or shine.

 

If I enter the haunted house and get too scared, what do I do?

If you get too scared, stay calm and tell the actor in the room and they will escort you outside or get the show manager to do so. Please note, like sporting events and large attractions, we do not give refunds under any circumstances (see question directly above this for more information.)

 

Is there an age limit?

There is no age limit. However, due to the intensity of our show, it is not recommended for children under the age of 12.

 

Do I have to sign a waiver?

You are not required to sign a waiver to experience our attraction(s) for any event.

 

What is the Glowstick night?

This special event is a complete blackout of the attraction where you have to find your way through with the aid of only a glow stick.  No show lighting is turned on and there is limited staff.  You will be touched (but not harmed).  Safety equipment available at the door.  NEW for 2019 ~ NO waiver is required for this show, and there is NO AGE LIMIT.  As a result, it won’t be quite as extreme as our past blackout events, but will still be a lot of fun!  Glowstick Night for 2019 is now over.  It was held on Friday, September 13th.

 

How many people go through at a time?

We encourage smaller groups because it makes it a better experience for our guests and our actors.  A group size of six or less at a time is what we recommend.

 

Can I stay with my group?

Just as previously stated, your experience will be better with a smaller group.  So, if you came with a large group, you will be divided. You will, however, remain with your smaller group throughout the attraction.

 

What should I wear?

The Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory do not have heating or air conditioning so please dress for the current weather conditions.  Sandals, heels, or any other open-toed shoes are strongly discouraged due to the uneven surfaces and tripping hazards throughout the attractions. You may come in contact with dirt and theatrical blood, so please wear clothes that can get dirty.

 

Can I wear a costume?

You are free to dress for the Halloween season as you please. We just ask that you do not wear any masks, face paint, or bring any props with you.

 

Can pregnant women go through?

Guests enter at their own discretion. HSHL is not responsible for injury. We suggest calling your OBGYN and/or physician to discuss the situation with them

 

Is it handicap accessible?

Unfortunately, not really.  The midway and 1st floor areas are accessible, but these are very old buildings with 4 and 3 floors of stairways with no ramps or elevators up to the haunt floors.

 

Can the actors touch you?

Our actors usually do not intentionally touch or harm any guests. You may, however, come into contact with our actors OR possibly actor-controlled props while they are scaring or jumping out. Our queue line actors/stalkers (roaming actors inside or outside the houses themselves) may possibly lightly touch you while interacting, but you will not be harmed.

 

Do I have to pay to park?

No, all parking is FREE.

 

What time does the line start forming?

Lines start forming between 30 and 60 minutes prior to the box office opening. On our busy nights it is best to show up early to avoid long lines. The box office will open and we will begin selling tickets 30 minutes prior to the listed opening of the attractions.

 

How long is the wait to get in?

Fridays and Saturdays are our busiest nights. You may experience wait times from 1 to 3+ hours. If you are in a hurry, Fast Passes are available to get to the front of the lines for an extra $10 or you can come on Sundays for shorter lines.

Please keep in mind that we must find the happy medium between making wait times shorter and having enough space between groups inside the houses so as to preserve the scares for everyone.  Our actors try to scare groups forward, but some groups walk slower or faster than others.

 

Is there indoor waiting?

Yes and no. There is indoor waiting as you are about to enter the attractions themselves, but most of the lines into the buildings are outside. HOWEVER, the lines are covered.

 

How long does it take to get through the Haunted Schoolhouse & Haunted Laboratory?

You will be getting scared for approximately an 45-60 minutes. This does not count the wait times. The time it takes to get through depends on how fast you walk… or run!

 

What time does it close?

We sell tickets until 11:00pm on select Thursdays (see calendar for all dates), until 12:00am on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 9:00pm on Sundays. However, HSHL does not close until all ticketed guests are through the attraction.  If you are IN LINE at the box office at the time it closes, you will be able to purchase a ticket and go through the attractions.

 

Can I take pictures?

There are multiple free photo-ops. You are welcome to take pictures while in line or in the midway, but once inside the haunted houses themselves, you may not take any pictures or videos of our actors, scenes, or props.  If you are seen taking photos or videos of any kind, our show managers will ask you to cease doing so.

 

Is there smoke or fog in the shows?

Yes. We use theatrical fog to create many effects in our shows.

 

Are there strobe lights?

Yes, but not a large amount.  Still, if you have problems with epilepsy, please talk to your doctor beforehand or refrain from entering the show.

 

Is there anything else to possibly trigger someone?

There is one scene of an apparent suicide by firearm in the Laboratory. It is meant to follow with the story of the Lab, not to upset anyone.  However, we acknowledge that some patrons may be triggered by a scene of that nature.  If that kind of a scene will make you uncomfortable, we recommend you avoid the Laboratory (you may buy a Schoolhouse only ticket.)

 

Is there security?

Officers from the Akron City Police Department are on site during all operating hours to ensure the safety of all inside the building, as well as a licensed nurse and an assistant fire chief for any possible injuries/illnesses to staff or patrons.

 

Can we be thrown out for any reason?

Yes. Any dangerous or offensive behavior is grounds to be thrown out. Whether or not you will be thrown out is at the discretion of the HSHL staff. Such behavior includes assault (verbal or physical) of our staff or other patrons, or vandalism of any of our sets/props, as well as anything else deemed to be worthy of expulsion.

 

Do you serve alcoholic beverages?

YES!  We feature two bars, one out in our Monster Midway, and one inside the Schoolhouse building by the line.  Please drink responsibly. We reserve the right to remove any patrons we deem to be too intoxicated for the safety of our staff and customers, including the intoxicated parties themselves.  There will be no alcohol sales on Sundays.

 

Do you have concessions on site?

Yes, we have a food truck on site on our Monster Midway.

 

Do you sell T-Shirts and souvenirs?

We have a variety of T-shirts and other apparel, as well as smaller souvenirs, for sale in our merchandise booth in the Monster Midway.

 

Is smoking allowed?

In accordance with state law, smoking is prohibited inside the building. You will NOT be permitted to exit for smoke breaks before you exit each attraction.  There is a designated smoking section on our Monster Midway.

 

What can’t we bring inside the show with us?

You cannot bring any weapons of any sort into the attraction with you, real or fake. You may not wear any mask or face covering (including paint) or bring props of any kind.  Also, no outside food, drink, or alcohol may be brought into the building.

 

Are the attractions the same each year?

No. We work hard to update and make changes every year. We promise we will never be exactly the same two years in a row.
